Another Storm Passes

It's not much, but I needed to get this off my chest.

I'm not sure what to say about the recent line of storms that have hit in the general area around my home. I'm thankful they seem to keep avoiding us, but at the same time, it saddens me at the amount of damage done to other communities. Of course, that just keeps the idea that the next one just may have my number on it.

Last night was no different. My husband and I watched the local news to find yet another storm was headed our way. The kids were in bed, so when we saw the storm was heading right for us, we loaded them up and went to my grandparent's house and ended up staying the night. The storms skirted by us once more, and as I read this morning, they did infact turn nasty.

My thoughts and prayers go to those who have lost their homes and/or friends and families in these storms. I've only experienced the edge of it and can hardly imagine what it must be like to be in the middle.

  1. I know what this is like because I grew up in Illinois and spent a year in Oklahoma, plus a few more years in Indiana. Then 11 years in Florida and was there when Hurricane Andrew headed straight for our city...then veered south and hit Homestead and left it looking like a pile of toothpicks.

These horrible disasters seem to bring out the best in all of us, though. Volunteers come from all over the country to help. Maybe this is what we human beings do best, but isn't it a shame it takes a disaster to make it happen?

  2. It certainly is a shame.

I'm co-leader of our local Girl Scout troop and we've helped with the cleaning efforts in the East Texas area. It was pretty amazing to see so many of the community coming out to help others!

  3. So lovable. Our one kitty is a handful, but three little ones would be so much fun.
