Voices in my Head?

I had the strangest thing happen to me a few weeks ago. (and I hope that this is at least somewhat normal for a writer to go through!)

I hadn't been awake long, and I was staring at the ceiling, thinking about my current story and wondering how I was going to fix a few things in it that were bothering me. Out of the blue, I heard the voice of my protagonist speaking to me. She told me how her real name was Michele, and that Clover was a nickname given to her with she was a little girl. There were other things that she told me that I quickly wrote down to add into the story at a later time.

This short moment of inspiration did help with the writing that day and for a few days afterward. I just wonder from time-to-time if this has happened to anyone else?

  1. Shasta, thanks for the follow. I really like your site.

Things like this have absolutely happened to me, especially in bed. I usually can't sleep the rest of the night and I just write till the sun comes up. Wish I could control when surges of inspiration come, but I guess that's not how it works.

  2. Thank you, Conor! As you can see, I'm just getting started on this. ( and I'm hopeful to find a groove with it soon)

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who experiences moments like these!
